We’re here to discuss what happens when you walk into a booth and interact with the device in front of you. We’ve come a long way from inserting pieces of paper into a literal ballot box with a slit cut in the top. Just like almost everything else these days, voting is moving further and further away from pen and paper in favor of more convenient digital options—just not at the rate you might think.

There are two main types of voting machines in use today. Optical scan (paper) and DRE (Direct-Recording Electronic) voting systems. You can see a li...

If your organization experiences a disaster, such as Hurricane Matthew, what are your top fears?  Obviously, people—your family, your staff, yourself—are your first concern. Once you know the people in your life are safe, you start to worry about your...

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for 50+ years. AI research was funded by the US  government in the 1960s, but there were many setbacks and difficulties due to technology limitations. By the late ‘90s, AI was being used for data mining to find patterns in vast amounts of data. Work that would take weeks or months for humans could be processed and presented by machines in minutes. This work was incredibly useful for research but had little impact on the general population’s daily life. Thanks t...

We’ve already discussed the dangers of phishing and email spoofing, but whaling is picking up steam. On the surface, whaling is simply a more concentrated form of phishing—scammers reach out to high-ranking executives or human resources departments to steal private information. Whaling equals hunting for “big fish” (i.e., those with the most valuable information).

The FBI says...
